The Kalibu Ministries base outside Blantyre, Malawi,
is the missions headquarters for our African operations. It is the
hub, out from which the various projects, churches, and outreaches
work.
Malawi itself is a nation in trouble. Like other African nations,
corruption is the major obstacle to lasting development both naturally
and spiritually. Since being forced into democracy by western donor
nations, we have witnessed a virtual free-fall in economy and skyrocketing
of violent crime.....as everyone calls, however inappropriately,
upon their "democratic right" to do whatever they want.
Once known as the "Warm Heart of Africa," Malawi now stands
on the brink of disaster. Islam has literally bought its way in
the door and is steadily gaining ground as its proponents dangle
its economic bait before the eyes of an impoverished people.
Our goal for Malawi is to proclaim a godly standard, THE Standard
of Jesus Christ, and show how obedience to a Higher Law will bring
TRUE peace and TRUE prosperity into the land. To do so, we have
involved ourselves as follows:
OUTREACHES - Preaching the Gospel to the remote villages.
CHURCH PLANTING - The building up of churches in these
villages as "lighthouses" of God's Word. To date, there
are approximately 100 churches in Malawi and 200 in Mocambique under
Kalibu headship. Not only do we assist in preaching and training
pastors for their calling, we also provide assistance in roofing
the physical structures.
EDUCATION - Kalibu Ministries is in the process of building
an elite secondary school where those who cannot afford a quality
education. Not only will it offer the basic curriculum, but also
have classes in good leadership, world commerce, computers, etc.
By far, the most important aspect is to instill Christian character
into the next generation of leaders and businessmen for the nation.
INTERNATIONAL - Blessing comes by giving. Therefore, as
intensely as Kalibu Ministries is working on behalf of the nation
of Malawi, we also believe in sowing our seed in other nations.
Outreaches go forth into Mocambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia,
Botswana, and Tanzania. A major church-planting and pastor training
effort goes into Mocambique. Our Malawi base sends its own missionaries
to the work in New Sudan.

Malawi - Church Roofing Project
Approximately $500 - 750 will provide the iron
sheets necessary to completely roof one village church. We have 5
churches in dire need of roofing at this time.
Very often, when our teams go into an area, we find ourselves preaching
under the trees. These remote places just don't have churches, as
the mere labors involved in eeking out a daily existence consume
their lives. And there are some who have never even heard the name
of Jesus.
But as they give their hearts to the Lord, and begin to look to
Him in all things, a new hope arises within them. Worshipping and
praising God take priority, and, as is always true with God, He
takes care of everything else. "Seek ye first the Kingdom of
God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added
unto you."

A modest church is first built by the villagers....mud bricks with
a grass roof. But as God continues to work in their lives, they
want to do more for Him. And, generally, the initial buildings quickly
become overcrowded. So, once again, we are meeting under the trees!
For building the new churches, Kalibu Ministries maintains strict
standards. First and foremost, the churches must be preaching and
living according to our Statement of Faith. Lives are ALWAYS more
important than buildings. Then there is a general plan to follow.
Bricks must be properly made and burned in a kiln for strength.
Cement mortar must be used, or else the entire building plastered
over to protect the walls from damaging rain. Strong and straight
timber must be used in preparation for the roof. All of this is
done by the villagers themselves.

Malawi - Pastor Support
There are about 100 pastors in Malawi needing
financial support. We are looking for people willing to commit to
donations of $60 per month over a one-year commitment which will
assist these pastors who have no other means of support
WE LOVE OUR PASTORS
Kalibu Ministries has the unique call to go
to the remote places and plant churches. Why? Because nobody else
will go, and these people in the villages rest heavily upon the
heart of God. Our Malawi staff and missionaries travel by vehicle
when they can, and often resort to foot when there are no roads....to
preach the Gospel and bring souls into the Kingdom of God. Just
like the book of Acts, these new churches are committed to faithful,
Spirit-filled men who have a heart for their people.
PASTORS' CONFERENCES: Two to three times a year, the pastors are
brought in for a conference, for a time of solid preaching and teaching,
incredible worship and prayer, and encouragement.
IN-HOUSE TRAINING: A few pastors at a time are brought to the mission
headquarters in Blantyre for two weeks of personal teaching and
counseling to develop their skills in pastoring. As they go they
are blessed with whatever we have to give: a few shirts and trousers,
a pair of shoes, a metal bucket, gifts for their wife and children.
PASTORS' SUPPORT: These pastors are giving of their lives for the
sake of Jesus. They work tirelessly, with no means of support. They
live off the meager food they can grow in their gardens. Because
of the overall level of poverty in these remote areas, a Sunday
morning offering rarely exceeds 25 cents. Yet, they continue because
of the call.
We are looking for people willing to make a commitment of $60 per
month for 12 months to assist one of these pastors....so he can
adequately feed and clothe his family. They are good ground for
sowing your seed, and you WILL be blessed in return. All supporters
will be given a photo of the pastor and his family, and updated
as to their progress.
If you are willing to support a pastor, please contact:

Malawi - Chileka School Building Project
This is an awesome task, and we estimate a need
of about $500,000 to complete all the buildings, provide furnishings,
and equip the classrooms. We build only as finances are made available....whether
large or small, your gift CAN make a difference.
The majority of Africans, especially in the rural areas, have little
opportunity for higher education. Classes are often held under a
mango tree for shade from the sun. Benches are logs laid on the
ground. There are no desks, rarely a chalk board, and few books
for the students. Young girls are unlikely to complete even a primary
(eight years) education. Secondary school requires the payment of
fees, purchase of uniforms, books and supplies......and most families
will give this chance only to their eldest son in hopes he will
graduate and get a good job to support his family back home. Even
the middle class African family cannot afford to send their children
to quality schools. In the long run, it's the children of the few
wealthy who succeed....contributing to the continued economic imbalance
in the nation. And, in a basically corrupt governmental environment,
the rich rule.....to their own benefit. For this, Kalibu Ministries
has decided to do what they can to make a difference.
The
Malawian government has given Kalibu a prime piece of property for
the establishment of a secondary (high) school / college which will
cater to the middle class. The goal is to equip young men and women
with the abilities and character to face and solve problems which
are pertinent to Africa. At the same time, we will be exposing them
to the Gospel which, at least for now, can be preached freely in
the classroom.
Besides giving a broad general education, the school will offer
specialized courses such as computing, business management, and
agricultural subjects. The school would cater for approximately
500 students chosen on a merit basis. Fees will be modest, and some
scholarships will be made available to those deserving students
who simply cannot afford even the basic fees. We are requiring ALL
graduates to give at least minimum service back to their nation.
Because
the concept is ideal for proper building of African nations, we
have received open doors already from Mocambique, Tanzania and Botswana
for similar projects.....the Malawi school is the prototype.
This school is being built by our own Kalibu Contracting, further
assisting the people of Malawi in giving otherwise idle citizens
training in building skills, a regular income, and a sense of self-worth
and accomplishment.....along with the Gospel. However, we can only
build as the finances are made available from our partners. It's
investment in the future, not only of individuals, but of nations.
