Beloved Partners & Friends

Adam was blessed with the highest and most noble ministry of worshipping God in the Garden of Eden. No doubt when God came down in the cool of the day Adam ministered to Him. It is most likely that it was also at that time daily when God brought the animals to Adam to be named. God could have done that work but He lovingly deferred the ministry to His created, beloved Adam. How incredibly intelligent Adam must have been to name thousands of species. It would also have taken a long, long time but of what was there to be concerned? Time was to be enjoyed for fellowship. As time went by Adam saw that all the animals and birds had mates but "there was not found a help meet for him." It is evident that Adam was alone with God in the Garden a very long time before Eve was made. Adam was given two responsibilities by the Lord. To "dress" the garden and to "keep" the garden. The word "keep" in all of its meaning would have made Adam a "watchman" to be on the alert. This clearly reveals that the Lord had fully instructed Adam concerning Satan and his devices. Adam was to keep the garden from being invaded. His failure to do so once Eve came along is evident. He obviously neglected to clearly instruct this new wife concerning the enemy and his attempts at invading the garden. That Eve was drawn towards the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil shows that she was not fully equipped to deal with the situation, for the "serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field...." Adam had given the serpent its name because of its cleverness and subtlety. This was not in a bad sense because all that God saw that He had created was "good." The serpent was, no doubt possessed by Satan, who then deceived Eve . Jesus warning in John's Gospel declares: "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." (Jn 8:44)

Paul the apostle speaks of the serpent beguiling Even through its subtlety. "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." (2Cor11:3) Herein is the essence of all that happened to Eve and herein is the danger to every believer: that our MINDS should be corrupted from the SIMPLICITY that is in Christ. The moment that anybody tries to make the word or Christ in any wise complex, let the warning flag go up. There are so many wicked men with beguiling subtlety to lead people away from the truth: the pure, simple truth of Christ. Adam's failure to be a true watchman over the garden and a watchman over his wife is the same failure of men in the church today Paul is very clear when he says, "To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; Lest satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices." (2Cor 2: 10,11) The word "DEVICES" is"noema" in the Greek and means "MIND THOUGHTS." In other words, we are not ignorant of satan's mind thoughts. He plants thoughts in the mind by cunning, crafty suggestion but he cannot read the thoughts of your mind. It is the business of men and fathers to set up a hedge about their garden and to instruct their families and loved ones against the devices of the devil whilst we get on with the real work and ministry that the Lord has given us: fellowship with Him. Think of how many ways the enemy comes in with his DEVICES to corrupt the minds of wives and families who men have not protected and instructed. What a responsibility.

STUDENT TESTIMONY - NEW SUDAN
Gabriel Atem who graduated last year has spent the last two months in one of he most remote regions of Upper Nile. It is the dry season at present when all water disappears and there is nothing to drink. The cattle men drive heir cattle to the banks of the Nile where the tribes people camp for three or four months until the rains come again. Gabriel Atem was an average student. Since graduating, however, he has discovered the joy of laboring for the Lord. Nothing is too much for him. He had ridden his bicycle for a week and then had some problems that forced him to walk and carry the bicycle. “Pastor, I am so very glad of three things that you taught us at College. 1. You taught us how to fast. 2. You taught us how to intercede 3. You taught us to believe God and never to give up and never look back. Those three things really saved my life. Because of my bicycle, my friends agreed to go on ahead and get water. We had already been two whole days without water. They went. I walked on and on. It was so hot and so dry. I had not a single drop of water. There were no people for days. I kept walking. After a further two days, my friends did not come back. I felt I could go no further I fell down exhausted. My mouth, my stomach, everything was burning I was dying for water. There was nothing I could do, so I drank my urine That at least gave me the strength to walk some more. It was midnight I was carrying my bicycle and my AK47. I rounded the corner. It was bright, bright moonlight. There right in front of me were two huge lions. I knew it was my end. I put my bicycle between me and the lions. They just lay looking at me and moving their tails. They were huge. I took my gun and fired at them. They separated but came back together. They were not afraid and not concerned. I knew they were going to eat me. I was very afraid. I spoke to the lions and told them that I wanted to pass and they should let me go and that they were not going to eat me because I was working for the Lord. I prayed Oh, I prayed like I had never prayed before. Then, I fired another bullet - my last - and they separated, went into the bush but came back on the road behind me. I faced them and walked backwards along the road. They just remained where they were. The following day, I reached a pump where there was water. I had been five days with nothing to drink but my urine. On arrival, I discovered that my friends had not slept all night. They had been interceding. They had suddenly woken up and felt they had to pray for me because of yes, lions. God had surely preserved my life. I am so thankful that you taught us intercession, Pastor."

BY TWO INTO AFRICA
Greetings from Kalibu Bible Academy in Yei, Sudan. Kalibu Kwa Yesu means "You are welcome to dine with us together with Jesus", and we have been doing just that since our arrival on January 10. It has truly been a feast on the Word of God and at His table. God divinely designed this great adventure into Africa when He put the two of us together as a team. From the beginning as we departed from Dulles to our arrival in Entebbe the enemy threw road blocks in our path to derail our mission - delayed flights, a terrorist removed from our flight upon leaving London, lost luggage, and double trouble coming through customs. Little did the devil know that it only made us more determined to accomplish what God intended! It was a Looooog time getting here, but the 8,000 mile flight with one stop overnight was a piece of cake compared to the last 100 miles we traveled over roadless terrain by truck. Helping hands and welcoming smiles greeted us upon our arrival. The academy is truly an oasis in a war torn New Sudan. The monumental work in developing this educational compound is unthinkable. You have to see it to believe it. The brick work, stone work, doors and windows made of teak, the luscious fruit and vegetable gardens, the flowers and landscaping carefully laid out show something of what has gone into this Bible school to receive these students. It is a labor of love! Hard work, dedication, commitment and prayer have brought this vision to fulfillment. Thank God for Michael Howard and his sister, Roz Heyns, for the commitment to the vision God gave for this place. The beauty of a star-studded sky and the brilliant explosion of a sunrise are only heightened by the audible sound of intercession through the night. Eighty voices greet the dawn with praise and worship to our awesome God. These future pastors are like sponges. They are so hungry for the Word of God! Every teaching session is a two fold lesson - one for them and one for us. We teach in English, using the KJV, and the Holy Spirit cuts across all cultural, generational, and language barriers. Here are excerpts from 11 of the students:
"This Bible College means a gift of God to me and this nation. I say this because this nation gone astray for many years without knowing God. We are still in the bondage of our culture and traditional. That why God sent His mighty man, Pastor Mike, full with the Spirit of God, to come and deliver us out of dead religious system." JPM
I am here, very glad for you, Pastor Cathy, Pastor Martha and Pastor Michael because you are opened my mind while I am nothing. I could not able to read and write, but now I am able to because of you and the power of our Lord Jesus Christ. I thank you for your good love to us." MT
"I am a soldier of 17 years. I have not seen my parents since 1985. It is the power of God was protected me and now I come into this academy last year. I am also give thanks to God Almighty who convict the heart of our pastor, Michael Howard, a spiritual man who have opened our eye because of his Bible School. He opened it to us to study the word of Almighty God, to deliver our people from bondage of sin and iniquities." JY
"We have gained a lot from you concerning the Kingdom of God. Changed me and my family." JR
"I wish to express all my gratitude to you my spiritual mothers for you have came here in Sudan to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to me. It is wonderful to God and me whom you feed with spiritual food which is the word of God. I thank you fort he book from Brother Gordon and Sister Hugh. What must I give you? I have nothing. But God reward you for the work He has called you to do." MM
"Kalibu Kwa Yesu Bible School is very good and importance in south Sudan. The goodness at this school to me is more about God's Kingdom and His word. It awake the sleeping bodies inthe darkness. It will feed the hungry people who thirst for the word of God through the students who learn in this school by preaching the God word to the people in order to get salvation." MG
"I am very happy to be in KKY because God changed me from my old character to new character. I was delivered from the darkness to the light of Christ and received the power of God through your good teaching. You teach me how to deliver my nation in the darkness and to show them the true way of life" STM
"The message from the USA and the bible very clear as Christian are going by full faith from the word of God. In the new year 2003 we received two pastor women full of faith. God give them high blessing. The director of school has very high faith and hunger of word of God like the 2 pastors. We asking God to bring them back to our school." BA
"Kalibu College open my eye because since when I was a boy I do not know about Jesus. My family are all Islamic but not only my family but the whole village is Islam. That is why I have written this. God bless both of us and thanks." AO
"About my life in KKY. Once being a Muslim I was in darkness but now I am in light. I become very close with God. I enjoy Him. Koran testifies Allah is one. Allah be sought of all - he beget not nor was begotten. Now in academy I know who Jesus is. Thank you for directing me in the right way." AM
"What Kalibu did in New Sudan-Since Kalibu was not here SPLA soldiers know not word of God. Kalibu wake up people of this nation. It build up nation of NS. Now they know there is a God that can assist from being in bondage of corruption of sin." JK

It has been our privilege to have been in the lives of these godly men for two months as their teachers. Our credentials for being on staff here are willing hearts and availability. Flexibility is a MUST on any mission trip. Your prayers have sustained us. The Holy Spirit has had His way with instruction while we are teaching and being taught. Rivers of living water are springing up and running over! Here atground level is where evangelism must start training up men of God in the word of God with out compromise. It is an enormous task. Kalibu needs your support in order for the Word to continue to go forth for the salvation of souls. Is God calling you to pay, to pray, or to come to these fields which are ripe for harvest but the laborers are few? Why should people hear the gospel message many times when there are those who have never heard it once? Why not invest in souls who will one day welcome you into heaven! Cathy and Martha.
