PEACE IN SOUTHERN SUDAN

Beloved Partners & Friends

The peace treaty is an absolute certainty and the nation is gearing towards that great event that is supposed to happen before the end of December. It is evident that this Historic even has come to pass for no other reason than the protracted intercession that has taken place in Southern Sudan through the ministry of Kalibu Academy of which you have been a vital part. You can rejoice before the event for the Word of the Lord is sure. What a price but oh, what a peace. Thank you for the vital role that each of you has paid in praying, giving and going. This is truly a tremendous victory of the Lord and proves yet again, that intercession really works and that when God speaks, no man can stop what He purposes to do. This is destiny in the making and the ripples are going to extend far and wide.

Whilst we are thrilled and excited about what is happening, we are also consciously aware of the need for further intercession as the peace takes effect and money pours into Southern Sudan . There is the great danger that after six years of an interim government, the minds of the people of the South will be so swayed by the abundance of finance that they will elect to remain in a union with Khartoum instead of seeking total independence. Sudanese have a great weakness for money and are easily manipulated by it. Our intercessions need to be stronger than ever. We need to be more resolute and determined to see total freedom from the slavery to sin and the lusts of the flesh. There are major issue WITHIN and only the power of intercession can deal with them.

Next year is going to be a year of major change for the Academy in Yei. There is the growing sense that we are nearing the completion of our mandate. We will focus on raising up a generation of young Sudanese who will truly carry the torch and wear the mantle. You can be deeply satisfied with all that has been achieved as you have played your particular role. It has been a tremendous victory live out before our very eyes. The book on Sudan will be in print by April 2004. We are thrilled with what the Lord has done and give all glory to Him and deepest thanks to you our faithful friends

ISLAMIC LAW TO BE ENFORCED IN CANADA?

Canada prepares to enforce Islamic law. Judges will give legal sanction to disputes between Muslims

Posted: November 28, 2003 2003 WorldNetDaily.com

Canadian judges soon will be enforcing Islamic law, or Sharia, in disputes between Muslims, possibly paving the way to one day administering criminal sentences, such as stoning women caught in adultery.

Muslims are required to submit to Sharia in Muslim societies but are excused in nations where they live as a minority under a non-Muslim government.

Delegates elect council to set up Islamic Institute of Civil Justice (Canadian Law Times)

Canada, however, is preparing for its 1 million-strong Muslim minority to be under the authority of a Sharia system enforced by the Canadian court system, according to the Canadian Law Times. Muslim delegates at a conference in Etobicoke, Ont., in October elected a 30-member council to establish the Islamic Institute of Civil Justice. The institute is classified in Islamic law as a Darul-Qada, or judicial tribunal. Its bylaws are scheduled to be drafted and approved by Dec. 31. Cases will be decided by a Muslim arbitrator, but the local secular Canadian court will be the enforcer. One of the obstacles to establishing the system, the Law Times said, has been the Muslim communities' lack of unity and organizational strength. Muslims in Canada come from many different countries and different schools of Islam. Also, there are few Islamic legal scholars, known as ulama, in North America, which are essential to adjudicating complex issues.

"It seems as if the community was looking forward to something like this," says organizer B. Husain Bhayat, according to the Law Times. "If all groups are represented, with hard work and the unity we saw here, we will have no difficulty going forward." The two main streams of Islam, Sunni and Shi'ite, were represented at the conference, along with imams and leaders of organizations.

REPORT FROM TEACHER RECENTLY RETURNED FROM SOUTHERN SUDAN

As I planned the trip to New Sudan, I prayed about it and the Lord gave me a vision two nights before the trip. In it the people were in poor health, but I saw the Lord in their midst in all His glory. He spoke only this,

"These are my people".

As I saw the Lord identify with them it confirmed my convictions to go there.

When I arrived I found respectful students and staff that assisted me.

I arrived at 8:30 p.m. and began my first class at 7:00 am the next morning. For five weeks I taught 6 days per week and preached on two Sundays. The Lord was there to help me and give me strength. It was very fulfilling and the Lord also gave me insight into relationships with others. The covenant we have vertically with God is only as intimate as we allow the horizontal relationships with our brothers in Christ to develop. Galations 5:14,

"For the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."

As I participated with Pastor Frank in washing the feet of the students and praying God's blessing on their ministry I sensed that Jesus was blessed in that I am reminded that the King shall say,

"In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethern, ye have done it unto me".

Well these men certainly are not least but the point is made clear in that we prove our love to God by our love for others. Micah 6:8 says:

"He had shewed thee, O Man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? “

I thank Jesus for letting me be a part of His team.

Thanks,

Tom Ferguson SC.
