August 2004 Special Edition

KALIBU ACADEMY, MALAWI, CENTRAL AFRICA

As we travel we have found that most people, even those who regularly receive the newsletters have no real concept of the vastness of the High School (Kalibu Academy) which we are building at Chileka just outside of Blantyre, Malawi.

Malawi is a strategic nation situated in Central Africa.  It is a nation that Fundamental Islam has been attempting to take over for the past ten years so that they can introduce Sharia Law.  From there they would send out their armies of missionaries and terrorists into east, central and southern Africa.  All this to bring about a continent they want to call “The Islamic Continent.”  (For details on this please contact the office in Kansas City and order Michael’s latest book, “To Save A Nation.”).  Unlike Europe or America there is freedom to preach the Gospel in schools in Africa.  This school will accommodate 1,000 students between the ages of 12 and 18.  It is our vision to not only give them an excellent education but also to train them in the things of God.  They are the future of Africa and for a change it will be wonderful to see a generation who are first and foremost “Lovers of God.”

MALAWI SITE SUPERVISION

As we are all aware of the Bible School Construction Project here in Malawi, surely it is still in progress with God’s hand being upon it.

The work is going very fast and perfect more than expected. Praise is unto Our Mighty Father who supply people are willingly to work for His kingdom.

Mr. Heikki from Finland, who has been with us in Malawi from December 2003 has been supervising and since then things are going more smoothly and much faster. When he started his work at the School project, he divided all the workers into twenty teams, each team having its own work to be doing like carpenters, builders, general workers, plumbers, electricians. With this group division it has caused the working capacity to boost as everyone concentrates on his working group.

SCHOOL HALL

The school hall is one of the biggest halls in Malawi and will seat approximately 2,000 people.  Not only will it be used by the school it will also be used for a training center for evangelists and pastors from Malawi and surrounding nations.  We will also hire it out for conferences and conventions.  It will be fully equipped with ablution facilities as well as a kitchen.

CLASSROOMS

This portion of the school actually shows 12 classrooms and the library.  There are 2 lecture theatres, 2 computer science blocks, 4 science laboratories, 2 geography theatres, 30 classrooms, 1 staff lounge, 1 administration block, school hall and numerous outbuildings.  Above the school along the crest of the hill and on the other side of the hill is the housing for teaching staff and at the foot of the hill we will be building the Bible College.

ADMINISTRATION

In the next couple of months we will be training administration staff for the running of the school.  Most of them will be Malawians but we are looking forward to having at least one person from the United States who has long wanted to be part of the work in Africa

The ministry itself is growing so rapidly that we cannot use our ministry staff to do anything but oversee the school administration.  As it is, so many of them put in at least a twelve hour day.  That is the difference between a calling and a job.  Still, many have families and need to be able to spend time with them.

DESKS AND CHAIRS

We are in the process of having our desks and chairs made for the classrooms.  The only wood obtainable in Malawi is pine which would definitely not last very long in a third world classroom.

Our missionaries in Mocambique are busy cutting teak which will be made into the furniture by a company in Malawi.

I have been pricing stacking chairs in the United States remembering that we need 2,000 and that they will have to be shipped (2 container loads).

The price of a desk, chair and stacking chair will cost us approximately $100 (US).  If anyone would like to sponsor this program please contact the office in Kansas City on :

TEACHERS

We will have fully self contained cottages for teaching staff which will consist of bedroom, lounge/dining area, bathroom and kitchen.  We plan to have teachers come out under a two year contract after which they can either return home permanently or for a term/semester.  Salaries will be paid at the local rate which will amount to pocket money only and we request that teachers be committed Christians.

Ideally we are looking at retired teachers who are healthy and want to do something for the Kingdom of God.  So many in their older years are being told that there is nothing they can do.  This is just not true and we NEED YOU.

I recently called a precious supporter of ours who had lost her husband.  I just wanted to find out how she was coping since we had been praying for her husband while he was bed-ridden.  I found out that she had been a teacher and suggested that she go to Africa.  She is in her late 70’s.

The following is a letter received in reply to my call:

“Thank you for your call today; I believe it was of the Lord.    I received your video “To Save A Nation” last fall shortly before I left for the winter.  I have watched it repeatedly and was so happy to see what you are doing.  It is hard in the natural to see your hard work go “down the drain” in New Sudan but how right you are to look for the Lord’s hand even in seeming defeat.  HE doesn’t lose, not will He allow His work in New Sudan be defeated.  He will be glorified and Shekinah Ministries will be rewarded for their trust in Him.

Roz, your visit with me has me walking 10 feet off the ground!  We’ll see what the Lord has in mind.”

Please contact our office in the UK, in Kansas City in Canada or in Finland if you are interested in a teaching position.  Finish out your days doing something really worth while for the Kingdom of God.  You can help change nations for eternity.
