MAY 2005Beloved Partners and Friends
An issue has just arisen that has brought into perspective one of the biggest illnesses in the Church today. The matter arose as the result of a simple statement and question to me:
"Well, we don't pay her. Why should she do it? Why should she obey."
The "volunteer" mentality needs to go and go quickly. I most certainly would have loved to have heard Paul the apostle give his answer to this statement and question. I will offer mine.
1. You are NOT your own, you have been BOUGHT, BOUGHT, BOUGHT with a price.
2. You are a steward, a bond slave. You may be a bond slave of love indeed, but still a bond slave, nevertheless. If you truly love the Lord, you will passionately long to obey Him. This means obeying those in authority. I am NOT speaking of MANIPULATION & CONTROL but obedience to those whom the Lord has anointed and called to leadership.
3. The HIRELING is the one motivated and concerned about money. The true HEIR is not so inclined, knowing that his Heavenly Father is faithful.
4. The moment that we work as a hireling we exclude the Lord from the equation of our lives and preclude His ability to bless us.
5. The Church is called out of the world. Our rewards and remuneration in the world for the labour we proffer is material cash. Our rewards in the Kingdom are not measured in such a fashion though the church has long been deceived into thinking this to be the case.
6. All our service is to be done as unto the Lord and not with the motive of "eye service" or seeking men’s approval.
7. I am well aware that the workman is worthy of his hire but we should be beholden to no man. If we become reliant on men alone for our monthly pay check then we are not true servants of the Lord and cannot be. EVERY DAY for me is pay day with the Lord! This ought to be the case in EVERY believer's life whether working a secular job or in so-called "full time ministry."
8. It is long overdue that the entire BODY of Christ realizes that we are STEWARDS and not owners. My time, my resources, my very life belong to another. The great danger is that the moment that we start thinking that it is only because of finances that we are able to give and receive orders we have just created a major break down in the LORD'S structure and order. Paying a salary does not give the right to issue orders or not to issue orders.
We are the ARMY of the Lord that is structured under the authority structure of the Lord. It is our giftings, callings and anointings that give AUTHORITY. For instance, not ALL in the Body are apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. The Lord has gifted SOME to these ministries. This alone requires our obedience to GOD'S CHOICE and it really does not matter whether we respect the man in office or not. That is NOT the criterion - God's ORDER is the criterion. If a man or woman in authority does not feel that they can give an order or directive to another because they are "not salaried" by the organization then there is a break down in GOD'S ORDER, confusion in the organization and an open door for the devil to spoil territory. In return, the person supposed to issue the directive is weak, defeated and miserable instead of a dignified ambassador of Christ. The BODY of CHRIST is built on SERVANTHOOD! The greatest servants will also be the greatest leaders. I do not have to prove my servant hood. True men of God in true authority structure are able to give orders because they took orders. Jesus was the servant of servants. The blessed Holy Spirit is a servant to each of us. Paul declared the apostles to be "least" in the servant structure. Love absolutely demands that I serve another whether there is the promise of material rewards or not. This is the Lord's governmental structure and order. Who paid Moses? Who paid Korah and his princes? Why was Korah so severely judged of the Lord for challenging Moses in the authority structure? Leaders must KNOW who they are, what their authority is and why they are to be obeyed. This is not arrogance but assurance and God's will.
CONTAINER
The container is due to arrive in Malawi by the middle of June. In the meanwhile we are beginning to collect for another container which we would like to send towards mid Fall.
If anyone has contacts with companies such as Sams Club, Lowes, Home Depot, Office Max, Staples and can get items at discounted rates please let us know.
Please send any items you may have to:
MAIL IT
305 Morris St
Toledo OH 43603
They have graciously offered to warehouse everything for us and because they have a dock it was so much easier to load everything on the last container.
Please remember that if you would not wear it or use it in your own home then it is not fit to be used in Africa. God gave His best for us and we need to do the same for the mission fields of the world.
MALAWI NEWS
CHURCH ROOFED Kalibu Ministries has roofed one of the village church branches in Tete district-Mozambique; this is as a result of the hard work of the pastor in charge and his congregation who generously provided all the required labour and the local materials for the church. The congregation molded the bricks, provided sand and timber for their church which can seat about three hundred people. The Pastor in charge of the branch Pastor Julio Thomson Pulica and the congregation are grateful with all the support they received from Kalibu Ministries and faithful partners that enable them build a church for praising and worshipping the Lord.
(Ed note) It costs approximately $500 to roof a church of this size. The policy of Shekinah/Kalibu is that if the pastor and congregation undertake to properly build a church of bricks and not mud then we will undertake to roof it for them with corrugated iron and not thatch.
REPORT ON MINISTRY TRIP TO MZUZU AND KARONGA DISTRICTS
A team of six traveled to the northern Malawi districts to visit Kalibu Ministries church branches. On the way the Land Cruiser developed mechanical problems which required repairs in Mzuzu. Some of the team remained there to oversee the repairs and minister in one of our local branches. Two of us went with the overseer by mini-bus, bicycle, ox cart and foot to a bush village in the rice-growing area of Chilumba. We found the pastors and people to be receptive and hungry for the Word, and services were lively and in order. They have a good vision for church planting in the vast unreached areas of their district. Teaching sessions included teaching on the gifts and ministry of the Holy Spirit, and leadership, with time given to answer questions on the subjects covered. The evenings were given to evangelistic “open-air” services. Several youth and teenagers came forward confessing Christ for salvation. Water baptisms at the river and time for anointing and prayer and encouragement to the pastors concluded the 5 days of ministry.
After a travel day to return to Mzuzu and a little rest, we continued teaching and evangelism for another 5 days at our Lupaso branch. The same good order and life in the Spirit was present there. In addition to teaching sessions and evangelistic services, there were opportunities for personal ministry to individuals with questions and needs. There is such a hunger and appeal for good teaching amongst the rural pastors and I was reminded continually of Jesus’ words about the harvest fields being ready, but the laborers being few, and praying for laborers to be sent (Luke 10:2). We are blessed to have currently 13 dedicated pastors in these two districts, which cover literally hundreds of square kilometers of bush land. It was a blessing to be able to give two of them a bicycle to help them in their work.
The repairs on the land cruiser were finished exactly on the day we had scheduled to return, though late in the day, and we enjoyed safe travel during the night to arrive back in Blantyre at 3:30 am, tired but full of joy in the Lord.
Pastor Richard Zembere Testimony
I was excited when the news that I am blessed with a brand new bicycle for my ministry work was sent to me from Kalibu Headquarters in Blantyre Malawi requesting me to report to the headquarters and receive my bicycle. I was really overwhelmed and started praising the Lord for recognizing the good work that I am doing for his Glory and knowing the burden of walking all the time would be a history. I hurriedly prepared and reported myself to the headquarters only four days after the message reached me.
I reached the mission headquarters and was handed my bicycle and the following day set off to Monkey Bay which is where I am ministering. I boarded the bus at 7: 30 am and my precious bicycle was tied on the bus roof. After eight hours of travel I finally reached the bus station and everybody was getting out of the bus and getting their luggage. I too got off the bus and went straight to get my bicycle. Unfortunately I couldn’t see my bicycle on the roof of bus and not believing my eyes I personally climbed on the roof to find the bicycle but the bicycle was no where to be seen. I rushed down and patrolled round the bus station. Fortunately I saw the printing Kalibu Kwa Yesu on a bicycle in the distance. Instantly my fears were calmed and I marched towards it. When I asked the people around as to who had placed the bicycle there they replied that someone had left it there after learning that the bicycle belonged to a church ministry. I once again praise the Lord for His care and protection that my precious blessing could not be robbed away from me and thank God for installing the respect and fear in the thief for not stealing what belongs to God.
