DECEMBER 2005Beloved Partners and Friends, I have once again been deeply exercised over the religious bondage that I see amongst so many in the churches. I do believe that this religious bondage comes out of the mind set of "eye service" or trying to please God because of our works and in failing to do so, we become disillusioned. Believers know the truth MENTALLY, but have not been completely set free by this same truth. He that has CEASED from his own works has entered into REST and sadly, not too many believers have the experience of REST! Your works will never please God, no matter how hard you try. Many believers feel obligated to attend church, obligated to give, obligated to serve and they do so. But, there is no emotional experience in obligation and soon, it becomes mere habit and routine devoid of feeling and excitement. Knowing what is expected and doing that leads to disillusionment and bondage when there is no life in the same. The Lord has made us in His image. That means we are TRI-partite beings made of spirit, soul and body. For us to please God in all we do, we must be ALIVE and EXCITED in all three areas of our being. We need to be touched and fired in our spirits, melted and undone in our souls (which is our mind, emotion and will) and quickened in our flesh by the Holy Spirit. What does it take for this to happen? The answer is plainly and simply, LOVE. God is love! Believer, do you really grasp that fact? God is the embodiment of LOVE ITSELF. He IS that love and love pours out of Him. It emanates from every part of His Being. God is not the ogre that many religious leaders have portrayed Him to be. People of God see Him as mean and spiteful, because they speak and operate out of their own dead, emotionless lives that display such characteristics. God is not waiting to beat up on you for every mistake you make. No, He is passionately longing for you to repent and get free so that you might ENJOY Him and repentance is so that the believer may get absolutely free. The body of Christ needs to get a little emotional about the Lord. This is not something we suddenly can just simply do. This is a work of the Holy Spirit. But, for the blessed Holy Spirit to achieve that work, we must be super obedient to Him. Romans 5: 5 declares, "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." Is this FACT not simply amazing and incredible? The FULLNESS of the LOVE OF GOD has actually come to take up residence in me. If I will only allow Him to have His way and allow Him to touch every part my being, He will change dead, lifeless ritual and routine into dynamic, excited living. This is the other work of the Holy Spirit within me but I have to respond to His promptings and so few believers ever do so. The result is a dead form of Godliness devoid of life and power. Beloved, grasp the enormous importance of what the Word is saying! God's full love is shed in my heart by the operation of His Holy Spirit who has specifically come to do that. Oh, what love of God that He so cares for YOU, yes YOU! As we yield to Him, His life giving power and emotion will seep into every part of my being and infuse me with His DYNAMIC rather than my dead religious tradition and bondage. I cannot truly love unless the love of God infuses me. I cannot love the lost in my own strength. I cannot love the NATIONS except that the love of God brought by the blessed Holy Spirit fills me and then I love the lost, I love the nations with God's pure, sacrificial love and God loves and manifests that love in my being by the working of His blessed Holy Spirit WITHIN me. The wonder, the marvel, the enormity of it all is beyond the human mind to grasp for it cannot be mentally understood for it is spiritual truth. Simply believe by faith and enter into this vast love of God as Father and you will experience something that you never before have enjoyed. MALAWI REPORT Kalibu Ministries was joined by three churches namely Zambezi Evangelical Mission, Souls for Jesus Ministries and Narrow-way Ministries in pleading before the face of the Almighty to intervene in the crises that Malawi is currently facing. In recent months, Malawi has been facing two major crises. The first major crisis is hunger due to prolonged drought that has led to acute shortages of food in the country where an estimated four million people are already starving and a number of hunger related deaths are already registered. The main staple food, maize, is not only expensive but also a very scarce commodity in the markets. People in the rural areas have resorted to eating wild fruits and roots. Though some fruits and roots are edible some are poisonous like wild yams and bamboo roots which due to ignorance and hunger some villagers ate and died. The president has already declared the hunger crises a national disaster and has called for the international community and the humanitarian organizations to come to the rescue of the nation. The government and United Nations World Food Program are trying to import food and distribute to the people but it is not sufficient. The estimate is US $88 millions to cater for the ever increasing population that is at risk of starving before the next harvest in March and April. We as the Body of Christ cannot sit around and see these people starving to death so we called for national prayer and fasting for the nation. The second major crisis is the political instability that is splitting Malawi between the current president Bingu wa Mutharika and his former ally and predecessor Bakili Muluzi. The rift started in March this year when the current president left his Muslim predecessor and his party the United Democratic Front (UDF) because of the corrupt practices that have ruined the nation for the last ten years. He decided to form his own party. The former president was offended that his successor would no longer heed his directives but embarked on the revitalization of Malawi. He promised zero tolerance for corruption that was rampant and claimed Malawi is a Christian nation. The former president exploited the popularity that he had consolidated in the past ten years and bought over two thirds of the members of parliament to form a coalition to impeach the president. The parliamentary majority that the opposition enjoys, succeeded in passing the motion in parliament in October and the speaker of parliament summoned the president to appear before parliament at the end of October to answer eight points laid out for his impeachment. Of course these were false accusations. Yes the former president has the power and might to buy the members of parliament BUT IT IS NEITHER BY POWER NOR MIGHT BUT BY THE SPIRIT. The church did not wait for the president to be impeached. We regard him as the man chosen by God to lead Malawi after ten years of turmoil, corruption, economic deterioration, state of lawlessness and above all introduction of Islam and Sharia law into Malawi. Kalibu Ministries called upon all the Christians and pastors to seriously intercede for the country. People fasted and prayed. Other churches and ministries within Blantyre joined Kalibu is seeking the face of the Lord. One amazing thing is that Kalibu was chosen to be the venue of the prayers for about one hundred intercessors. But why choose Kalibu? The answer is the anointing of the Almighty in Kalibu and the abundant presence of the Holy Ghost. As the intercession proceeded into Sunday, God heard the cry of His people and started intervening. Monday morning the high court not only suspended the impeachment procedures but also provided an injunction to the president. What a victory in the Lord!!! The Lord continued working wonders in these events. On Tuesday the impeachment motion mover, Maxwell Milanzi was discovered to be an ex convict. He was convicted of misappropriation of public funds which according to the Malawi constitution disqualifies him from being a member of parliament and now he faces expulsion from the national assembly. He was also found to have pocketed one billion four hundred million Malawi Kwacha ~ US $ 12 million from donors into his personal account during his period of office and summoned to appear before the Anti Corruption Bureau. Furthermore, one of the leading opposition members, Lucious Banda and a promoter of the impeachment was found guilty of using false academic certificates to become a Member of Parliament so is also facing expulsion from the national assembly. Again there is now confusion among the politicians who have ganged together to impeach the president. Some have defected to the government camp while the rest are continually disagreeing amongst themselves. This is an absolute manifestation of God’s order in this nation. God has started exposing the sins of those who claim to be righteous and exalted those who humbled themselves. Above all, Kalibu is acknowledged for the very significant role in these crises and because of the anointing upon Kalibu it became the venue of prayer, worship and fasting for the nation. Our God is a wonderful God and He listens to the cry of His children when He is most needed. As Kalibu intercedes daily, the other churches and ministries have agreed to join Kalibu in interceding for the nation once a week until there is total stability and the presence of God is felt nation wide. There is power in intercession and everybody is recognizing the impact when we faithfully and whole heartedly intercede to the Almighty. He always answers! (Written by the staff of Kalibu, Malawi)
The following is a report from Jim and Eileen Kirt from our base in Morrumbala, Mozambique: “Radio Mozambique has given us permission to broadcast three hours per week of preaching the Word of God. We can present the messages in two local languages which will minister to the local people very effectively. It has been in Jim’s heart for many years to have the Gospel preached on the radio here in Mozambique. In the past the radio was a government owned, operated and controlled entity. The Catholic church has had it’s own radio station for years and has been the only religious broadcasting station in the country. We need qualified and anointed speakers to present the Gospel on the air waves and the cost of air time is $150 per month. The dormitory for pastors for their leadership conferences is now under construction. It will give them a more comfortable place to stay along with a kitchen facility and classroom. The finances have not yet been fully supplied but we are believing God and will do all that we can with what comes in as it comes in. The women gathered for the annual women’s conference for three days. They were very excited and teachable. Flannel graphs and many other tools were used to present the teaching and they stitched together wall hangings to take home which reminded them of the scripture verses that they had memorized and lessons they were taught. One of the Pastor’s wives returned home and taught what she had learned in her church the following Sunday. Women from another church heard her and she has now started a women’s meeting with them. We see these conferences as an important part of building up the Body of Christ. The pastors will be blessed with women in the Church who know how to teach and pray and the women will be encouraged to use the gifts that God has given them for His glory. WHO IS GOD…….CROCODILE SORTS IT OUT One of our pastors went to the house of an evangelist to visit. He found him talking to a Moslem who was drunk and asked, “Is it okay in your religion to get drunk?” The man responded, “No problem, we can drink.” The pastor asked who his god was and who would save him. He replied, “Mohammed.” The Pastor said, “Only Jesus can save you because he died for sinners. If you rely on Mohammed you will be lost. Jesus is the way, the Truth and the Life. No one can go to the Father except through Him.” The man said, “We pray and ask Allah to help us and he helps us immediately. We can even pray and ask him to kill someone and he will do it. Now does your Jesus answer you immediately like our god?’ The Pastor replied, ‘With Jesus it is not that way. Jesus gives everyone a chance to repent. He doesn’t just kill someone. I don’t fear because I rely on Jesus Christ and He is more powerful than Allah.” The man said I will pray that you will die and if your Jesus is more powerful then I will die. The pastor said that he would pray and Jesus would protect him. The next day the Moslem was bathing at the river when a crocodile grabbed him and pulled him in. He managed to escape and was crawling back when he grabbed again. Somehow he once again managed to escape. When the pastor returned some weeks later he heard of the account and when he saw the Moslem all pride had been stripped away and the man gave him great respect. Truly, just as the pastor told him, God gives us all a chance to repent, to turn from our false and wicked ways
